Eater: Chiko Owners Bring Upstate NY Wings to a D.C. Sports Bar

“I was weaned on wing sauce,” Scott Drewno jokes. The chef has been in the DMV for 18 years, but he grew up in Upstate New York and has missed the Buffalo wings and garbage plates he was raised on. Now, he and partner Danny Lee, the chefs behind James Beard-nominated Fried Rice Collective, are bringing those updated nostalgic flavors to Sports & Social on U Street, partnering with Live! Casino & Hotel to create a food menu called Upstate FTW (“for the win”). The new menu rolled out Monday, September 1, with plenty of hardy upstate dishes, classic bar fare (crab dip, of course), and French pan pizza that bring back Drewno’s childhood memories of fighting over Stouffer’s pizza with his siblings.
